Spiritual Laziness: A Heart Condition + How to Fix It

If not now… then when?

Occasionally, I go through seasons of “I’ll get to it tomorrow…”. Well fast forward to a week or 2 later anddd I’ve made little to no progress on the said goal.

Call it what you want: Procrastination. Avoidance. Laziness.

It gets the best of us; and in a day & age where distractions are EVERYWHERE, even the most productive people are guilty of setting aside responsibilities. But regardless of the reason, many of us have become spiritually lazy.

Let me ask you something…

When was the last time you sat down to spend time with God? I mean really explored a topic, a question, an idea... Opened up the Bible & dug deep? Memorized a verse? Studied an entire passage? Read a book from the “OT”?

If you just had a mini (or massive) wave of conviction–it’s okay. I’ve been there too. I think we all have. While it’s disheartening to see a layer of dust has settled on your Bible, allow these convictions to draw you back into reading Scripture & make spending time with God a PRIORITY!

Romans 15:4 reminds us of the importance of staying in the Word: “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide, we might have hope.”

So my encouragement today is this: prioritize your time with Jesus. And don’t let anyone/anything get in the way of that, sis!
